Studying the Translators’ Mistakes on the Verses Concerning the Formation of Clouds, Rains and Sleets

Abstract

Identifying the mistakes in the prominent translations of the Quran  and removing them is considered a necessity for reaching a better and more precise conveyance of the revelation to Persian speaking readers This article has chosen two scientifically significant verses of the Quran which discuss the formation of clouds, rain and sleet as an example to study different translations and evaluate their word choice, considering these issues in the corresponding science of Biology. Meanwhile it proposes some principles, regarding which will end in a better translation in this field.
In this study, several contemporary translations (Ayati, Behbudi, Payandeh, Rezaee, Sha’rani, Sadeqi, Fuladvand and Makarem) have been examined concerning their translation of the mentioned  verses.
On the basis of  employing the basic means and sources of translation, interpretation and science. According to this survey, some of these translations have not properly utilized the necessary sources. Although it became clear that providing  additional explanations based on the principles of translation, can  resolve the ambiguity in translations for verses with biological informations.
