Qur'an has been revealed gradually in order to guide human beings. How had this revelation began and with which verses, are questions to which commentators and Qur'an researchers have given different answers. In this article different views have been examined; three of them criticized and the forth confirmed. These are as follows: 1) The five beginning verses of sura al-A1agh; 2) Sura al-Hamd; 3) Sura al-Muddathir; 4) The chosen standpoint according to which the revelation of Qur'an had started with
"Basmala".
