Abu Ahmad Askarī was one of the greatest Sunni commentators and scholars in the 11th century. His works rank a great place in the area of Islamic Sciences. Considering his school of thought, his place in Shi’a hadith books is significant and worthy of investigation. This article aims to briefly introduce this scholar and examine the works attributed to him by Shi’a sources. In this regard, it’s necessary to consider his major works narrated by Sheikh Sadūq, who firstly referred to Abu Ahamd’s works, as well as Sayed bin Tāwūs. However, the approach adopted by Ibn Tāwūs to Abu Ahmad’s works was the same as Sheikh Sadūq’s. The narrations of this free-thinking and unbiased Sunni scholar are examples of the best documents to response the misconceptions raised against Shi’a, especially proving sermons of Nahj Al-Balaghah to Imam Ali (as) such as the sermon Sheqsheqīyah. He is one of the few Sunni scholars who quoted Sheqsheqīyah and explained it in detail as well. Thus, he may be recognized as a Shi’a-oriented scholar. This paper also proves the annulment of two reports about Abu Ahmad, as “Shi’a” or “anti-Shi’a.” .
