The difference in interpretative views is the result of several factors, which the examination of the process of interpretation can reveal the effect of these factors. The purpose of the present research is to reread the process of exegesis of the verse “WaThiyābaka Faṭahhir” in accordance with one of these important factors, i.e., exegetical approaches. The research method is analytical and based on description and explanation: description of primary sayings and interpretation products, then explaining the variety of views through analyzing the way the commentator interacts with primary sayings in the light of trends. The findings of the research showed that the interpretive products include two types of apparent interpretations: real purification; Virtual purification. Commentaries in the light of the jurisprudential approachs have accepted the true purification by hiding or not giving priority to the opposing sayings and emphasizing the purification of clothes with water and even the requirement to prepare for prayer. The theological approach influences the process of this verse in only one exegesis. Other approaches have created different products in their process. Some have considered purification figurative, and some have considered both purification and clothing figurative and the meaning of the verse is to avoid inner pollution. Some others, in an incremental view, have given the esoteric interpretation. The result of the analysis of the interpretation process showed to what extent this process is unique for each exegetic text and how much it is necessary to conduct more detailed investigations in the interpretation process.
