Nowadays, it has been confirmed by many different ways -such as aerial and satellite pictures- that the Earth is not and has never been a surface suspended in space. On the other hand, some researchers have claimed that Quran has introduced the Earth,as a smooth and flat surface. In this article, by delicate semantic examination of the word "ARZ"and its meaning in related verses, we have concluded what has been introduced in Quran as a smooth and flat surface is not the whole Earth. Even the word “ARZ” –in its original meaning- has been applied to the lands underfoot mankind and the seas and oceans are not meant by its usage.
